St. Kitts’ Alex Duncan’s song hits it big in US

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE ‘Say A Little Prayer’ artiste Alex Duncan has a new song that is currently burning up the East Coast airwaves in the United States.

The song is called ‘No More Lonely Nights’ and has been number one for two successive weeks on Hartford, Connecticut’s Energy Radio 1015 www.energyradio1015.com.

The smooth Reggae tune has the artiste singing to his lover about loving and treating her right. “No more lonely nights, got you by my side. I wanna love and treat you right, do anything to make you smile…,” is the beginning of the chorus.
Duncan said he has been singing in church since age seven.

“I sang a song and I was asked to sing it again and again and again,” he said. “I sung because I couldn't talk. I stammered and when I sang people could understand it better than when I spoke.”

Duncan recalled when he was about age 14, he got his start as an artiste on Fort Street with DJ Ronnie Rascal.
“Believe it or not, I got started on Fort Street singing with DJ Ronnie Rascal blazing tracks so young singers like myself could enter DJ competitions.

“My early childhood teacher, Mr. Ferrell, made sure my songs were on point and vocal arrangements were good enough for fans to listen to.”

Duncan told SKNVibes that he has been recording, writing, touring and taking lead of his career and after leaving St. Kitts over ten years ago when he joined a band called Jumbalassy.

“After Jumbalassy, I was lead singer for Reggae Ambassadors Inner Circle and was fortunate enough to record a song with Kirk Franklin, BeBe & CeCe Winans and Donnie McClurkin. The song is called ‘Song for Change’, benefitting the Haitian earthquake. It can also be viewed on YouTube,” he said.

He has produced several solo albums and also a few with Jumbalassy called ‘Warning: Live Jumbies’, ‘Show Me Love & Time’ and, most recently, ‘Midnight’ and ‘Sweetness’.

Some of his new singles include ‘Sweetness’, ‘Brown Skin Girl’ and ‘No More Trouble’. He said that the acappella version of ‘No More Trouble could be viewed on YouTube.

“I also got my first chance to perform on Stone Love sound system, which has been a dream of mine to grace the stages of a Stone Love show.

“Let me say, all praises to Almighty God with whom all things are possible and thanks to all the fans and music supporters that supported and loved my music throughout the years, which has allowed me to connect with them on a greater level performing for larger audiences. Also to different cultures that have shown me that my music has touched them in so many ways that proves that a small island guy with a stammering problem can change his stars and do great things,” he said.

Duncan said that he is working on completing his latest album with Jamaican producers Soljie Hamilton and Barry O’Hare. He is asking his fans to look out for an R&B album in the near future.
