BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE body of a young man was this morning (Jun. 21) found lying on the main dirt road leading to Fountain Estate in St. Peter’s Village.
According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Vaughan Henderson, at about 5:30 this morning, a report was made at the Stapleton Police Station that a man, believed to be dead, was seen lying face-down on the main dirt road leading to Fountain Estate.
“Police responded immediately and investigations revealed that the body was that of 27-year-old Hendricks Roberts of Stapleton Village. He was pronounced dead by District Medical Officer Dr. Mervyn Laws, who declared that there is no apparent cause of death at this time. The police however are treating this case as a homicide,” Henderson said.
When SKNVibes arrived at the scene, the body was still on the dirt road and most residents in the area were unaware of who it was, as well as what caused his death. However, an individual, who claimed to have seen the body before the police arrived, said blood was seen on the face but could not say if it came out of his nose or mouth.
Another resident claimed that Roberts’ was at a party last night and had an altercation with another man who “bang him up well in an alley”. At press time, however, this information remained unconfirmed.
Inspector Henderson noted that investigations are ongoing and promised to reveal the cause of death following an autopsy.
