MANSION, St. Kitts, June 21, 2010 (Kalinago Group Press Release) - Through the generous support of our sponsors, the Kalinago Group in partnership with the UCF Burnett College and DHL, from June 13 to June 17, were able to provide refurbished computers and science lab equipment for the Estridge Primary School (Mansion) in St. Kitts. In addition to providing the basics of paint and labor to the labs, we were also able to paint beautiful murals throughout the rooms.
The murals not only beautifying the space but also encourage creativity and imagination among the students and teachers. The donations of computers and science lab equipment were just the beginning of the endeavor, our sponsors and support staff also provided enough educational books and reading materials to span the walls of both rooms.
Following a founding principle of the Kalinago Group is respect and knowledge of our environment. We were able, through the kindness of the St. Kitts Sea Turtle Network, to treat the 2nd graders to a day of fun educational learning. The students learned about the various types of turtles in the Caribbean and how important they are to the ecosystem. Days after the outing, the kids were still excited as they willingly shared their experience and new knowledge of sea turtles with the other students.

We wish the Estridge Primary School continued success in their efforts to make a difference in the educational lives of our young people. Kalinago Group
The Kalinago Group is a recently-formed non-governmental organization dedicated to grassroots development in St. Kitts. Though our members are not actual Kalinago Indians it is through deep respect for the rich history of our country that we use the original name of our islands first settler's as our namesake.
The Kalinago Indians are a self-reliant people who developed an egalitarian system where everyone held an important role to play in society no matter their age, gender or position. The Kalinago Group has a clear vision defined by our goals of educating our youth and preserving environmental assets through entrepreneurial and environmental projects. This will allow us to train future professionals, our replacements, thereby ensuring a level of sustainability into the future.
