BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS part of her prize for winning the prestigious Miss Caraibes Hibiscus Pageant, Yoly Hawley and the pageant’s President Patrick Eugene visited St. Kitts on Friday, June 18.
“We’re in St. Kitts to visit because it was one of her prizes for winning the pageant, along with visits to St. Barths, Anguilla, Guadeloupe and Martinique,” Eugene said.
He said it is the first time St. Martin has won the title in the pageant’s 19-year existence. Last year, Miss Columbia and Miss Martinique were the First and Second Runners-up, respectively.
He said as part of her prize and travelling through the Caribbean, Hawley would also be travelling to Africa and France.
Hawley said that being the reigning Miss Caraibes Hibiscus is quite an experience and she has learned a lot.
“I have never travelled so much, and I look forward to meeting the people. I’ve learned a lot about myself and has helped with my self-development. Being a queen you learn more about who you are and how you deal with competition,” she said.
Hawley said she has aspirations of becoming an elementary school teacher. This year’s pageant will be held in St. Martin on Saturday, December 4.
Trinidad & Tobago has been the most successful country in producing winners at the pageant. The Miss Caraibes Hibiscus is an annual international beauty contest that features Caribbean and South American countries, including Peru, Paraguay, Panama, Puerto Rico, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis and French Guiana.
SKNVibes was informed that there will be a representative from St. Kitts and Nevis in this year’s pageant.
