CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, June 23, 2010 (Press Release) - The Director Culturama Festival Secretariat, Mr Antonio Liburd, has announced that the Culturama 2010 Press Conference Launch will be held at 10.00 a.m on Friday, July 2, at the Red Cross Building.
Culturama is being held under the theme Culturama 2K10! A Unique Cultural Blend.
The objective of the Press Conference is to sensitise the general public on the planned Culturama activities that include pre-activities such as Street Bash#1 on July 3 at 12.00 p.m, Ms Culture Swimwear and Ms Culture Queen Pageant Contestants Fashion Show on July 4 at 5.00 p.m, Street Bash #2 and Fashion Comes to Town “Extravaganza” on July 10 at 4.00 p.m, Senior Kaiso Quarter Finals at 9.00 pm, Street Bash#3 on July 17 at 12.00 p.m
Liburd said that media personnel will have time at the Press Conference to get details of the Official Culturama events are Grand Launch of Culturama 2010 and Junior Kaiso contest at 6.00 p.m on July 22nd, 2010 Culturama Band Clash at 8.00 pm on July 23rd, Senior Kaiso Semi Finals Contest at 8.00 p.m on July 24th, Miss Culture Swimwear Contest at 8.00 p.m on July 25th, Ms Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant at 8.00 p.m on July 27th, Rhythmz Dance Theatre Production at 8.00 p.m on July 28th, Mr and Mrs Talented Youth Pageant at 7.00 p.m on July 29th, Department of Agriculture Fruit Festival at 9.00 p.m on July 30th and Nevis Pages/Oualie Products Ltd International Night of Stars at 9.00 p.m on July 30th.
Officials scheduled to be held on July 31st are Culturama Cultural Food Fair at 7.00 p.m, Senior Kaiso Finals at 9.00 p.m and Ultra Sonic Band, Super Sexy Dance to be held at 12.00 to 6.00 a.m. On August 1 at 12.00 noon Culturama Drag Racing will be held.
On August 1 at 8.00 p.m, Ms Culture Queen Pageant will be held while on August 2 at 5.00 a.m the Emancipation J’ ouvert Jump Up will be held while the Culturama Horse Races will be at 1.00 p.m on August 2. On August 3 at 1.00 p.m the Cultural Street Parade and the Last Lap will be held. On August 17 at 8.00 p.m Culturama 2010 Prize Giving Ceremony will be held.
The Chairman of the Culturama Festival, Mr Halstead “Sooty” Byron called on the Press to turn up at the Press Conference to interview key stakeholders such as the Culturama Festival Secretariat officials, the Minister of Culture, Hensley Daniel, the Superintendent of Police , Nevis Division, sponsors and representatives of various sub-committees charged with key events.
Byron said the Press Conference will usher a series of launch activities such as the Street Bash No 1, the fashion show on Sunday. He said this year the street bashes have been increased to three.
