BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Friday night acts for the 14th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival have declared that they are ready to put on a great show for patrons tonight.

At a press conference held at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel this morning (Jun. 25), SMI, Tarrus Riley, Kymani Marley, Jah Fire, Fethi Tabet and Fabolous assured attendees that their performance tonight would be a great.

The artistes all said that they were looking forward to performing tonight and each gave a short overview of what could be expected.

Marley said he has a new album, soon to be released, called ‘Evolution to Revolution’, which features various styles of music including Hip-Hop urban to acoustic styles of music.

“Music that speaks to the soul that hopefully would inspire,” he said.

The two local artistes that will be gracing the stage for the first time, Jah Fire and SMI, said that performing on the Music Festival stage was a long awaited opportunity.

Jah Fire said it was an honour for him to be a part of the lineup and his latest album, ‘Street Life’, is available at St. Kitts Music Shoppe, which is operated by Masud Sadiki and would be located on the festival grounds.

“It’s been a long time coming and I feel real humbled about it,” SMI said about his music festival performance.

SMI said that he is currently in the studio working on his fourth solo album. ‘H.O.A.C’ (Heart of a Champion).

Today being the first anniversary of the passing of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Tarrus Riley, who did a reggae version of Jackson’s ‘Human Nature’, said that he recorded the song two years ago and would also be singing it tonight.

Algeria’s Fethi Tabet, whose music is greatly inspired by French and Spanish influence, said that his music is for everyone and described it as “world music”.

SKNVibes spoke briefly to Fabolous following the press conference. He said that he was looking forward to tonight’s performance as well as seeing the island.

“Definitely going to have fun with the people tonight and get them involved in my performance,” he said.

The 14th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival, which is held at Warner Park, begins each night promptly at 8:00 and will end tomorrow.
