BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man and a woman were shot early this morning (Jun. 26) in Soho Village, Basseterre while seated in the rear of a vehicle.
Information reaching SKNVibes states that Damian Weekes of Trafalgar Village, Basseterre and a female from Antigua were shot at about 2:50 a.m. by a masked man in the vicinity of Gary’s Fruits and Flowers.
It was learnt that the woman came to St. Kitts to attend the 14th Annual Music Festival, and shortly after leaving the venue they were to be taken to their respective domicile in a vehicle driven by Sylvester Francis, an employee of the Electricity Department.
Weekes and the woman were seated in the rear, and as the vehicle was slowly moving off from its stationary position in Soho, a masked man emerged from a clump of bushes and fired a shot at them.
The bullet shattered the left rear window of the vehicle, grazed the back of the woman’s head and in continuance of its flight struck Weekes on his right ear.
They were taken to the JNF Hospital, treated for their injuries and discharged.
The incident was reported to the police and this media house was informed that no one has yet been held responsible, but investigations are ongoing.
