BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CRIMINALS in St. Kitts seem to have become bolder in their modus operandi as a masked gunman held up the Cayon Police Station last night.

Reports reaching SKNVibes indicate that a masked man entered the Cayon Police Station with a firearm sometime after 10:00 last night (Jun. 27), but his intention(s) has not officially been made known to this media house.

According to residents in the area, one female officer was on duty when the gunman entered the station. And one of them claimed that they heard when the officer said in a high-pitched voice, “I don’t have the keys…he is not here.”

Another resident said that the officer was traumatised after her brief encounter with the gunman. “She seemed shaken and could not speak when officers from Basseterre arrived at the scene. They then transported her to the Mary Charles Hospital in Molineux. I guess she was treated for shock,” the resident added.

SKNVibes learnt that the officer was treated at the hospital but, at press time, could not confirm the reason for the gunman’s visit to the police station.

When contacted, a senior officer said he could not have commented on the incident because they had just arrived at the scene and was in the process of investigating. He however indicated that information would be made available on completion of the investigation.

Meanwhile, armed bandits robbed the occupants of a Carib Brewery delivery truck of an undisclosed sum of money in Ottleys Village on Saturday, June 26.

According to a police press release, on the day in question, “Police responded to a report of robbery which occurred at about 12:40 p.m. at Ottleys Village. Police investigations revealed that masked, armed gunmen robbed a Carib Brewery delivery truck that was delivering drinks in the Ottleys area. The robbers escaped with an undisclosed sum of money and a cell phone. No one was injured during the attack.

“Though no arrest has been made, the police are in search of suspects. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.”
