What was your best experience at the 14th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival?

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE 14th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival ended at about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 27 and many people claimed they had enjoyed the three-night event that was filled great music, performances and special moments.

SKNVibes asked several persons what was their most memorable experience at the event and they seemed to have enjoyed themselves, despite their disappointment with the lineup.

A young lady named Meisha B said her most memorable experience at the festival was when a fight broke out during Sizzla Kolongi’s performance.

“He got hype and told them ‘bun out’ and get out the field and don’t mess up he meds before he buss a Jamaican bad word! He’s a boss!” she said.

Junell Duporte agreed with Meisha and said that it was also his best moment.

“Bunji Garlin and Fay-Anne were great,” said Judy Du Pont. “I also enjoyed C-Money, Rolensha and Infamus…the local acts really did it for me.”

Phonse Rodney exclaimed that Sizzla saved the festival. “It was the way he interacted with the crowd, and although there were rain and power outages it didn’t affect his performance, but boost it,” he said.

Shane Pereira of Hollywood Productions said that Fabulous did it for him and he was also happy that he was a part of his entourage.
“It was surprising to see the crowd rocking to Fabolous as a Hip-Hop artiste. I wasn’t feeling the festival much this year. I personally didn’t see SMI’s performance but from what I heard, it was excellent,” he said.

Shirlita Burnham also said that Sizzla made her night. “I liked Sizzla’s appearance…his vibes was still there even though the electricity went out. He actually was still dancing to the drum that was playing when they current went, and I liked that about him ’cause some other singers would have turned off and don’t continue singing. It showed that he is really into his music and he doesn’t give up so easy. Rasta me say,” she said.

Diana Browne said she enjoyed the performances of Infamus and Rolensha, specifically because they were also backed by a live band.

“That really took their performance to the next level. I’ve seen them both performed before on tracks but the live band really made a difference and was the highlight of my night,” she said.

Michelle, one of the visitors to the festival, said that Sizzla also made her night.

“He was impactful! When his music went out due to the outage and he went off the stage, persons near the stage began chanting and singing, which was wonderful,” she said.
