Saddlers man guilty of Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A Saddlers man was yesterday (Jun. 28) found guilty of Unlawful Carnal Knowledge at the Basseterre High Court.

Appearing before Justice Francis Belle, John Harvey, who pleaded not guilty at his indictment, was charged with the offence which occurred on March 22, 2008. Since then he has been granted bail.

The case lasted several hours yesterday before the jury returned with a guilty verdict.
SKNVibes learnt that Harvey’s defence appeared weak and that if he had engaged the services of  a legal mind, he would have been freed on a no case submission.

“Maybe, if he had a lawyer he would have been able to win the case. It seemed as though it was his first time before the court and he didn’t to know how to handle himself. I don’t think the evidence was strong enough to warrant conviction,” a source told this media house.

Harvey has to return to the court for sentencing on Thursday, July 1.
