St.Kitts Female Volleyball team congratulated by main opposition party People’s Action Movement and leader Lindsay Grant

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts. June 29, 2010 (PAM Secretary Press Release) - The Leader of St.Kitts-Nevis main Opposition party the   People’s Action Movement Mr. Lindsay Grant applauded the recent success of St.Kitts  National Female Volleyball having won the ECVA Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association female championships held in StLucia.

     

    The People’s Action Movement Leader met with the team after their impressive victory and offered congratulatory wishes to the new champions on behalf of the party as well as his own behalf.

     

    The newly re-elected opposition party leader also personally congratulated tournament MVP Brenda Allen-Edinborough and St.Kitts Amateur Volleyball Association President Glen Quinlan.

     

    “I am immensely proud of  the ladies recent success in St.Lucia with their spectacular performance in winning the ECVA Volleyball Championship.,” the People’s Action Movement Leader Mr.  Grant said.

     

    “I must commend the entire teams overall performance as well as individual performances particularly that  of tournament MVP Brand Allan-Edinborough, Antoinette Henry and Shanice Dyer . They have done our country proud with this their 4th regional volleyball title,” Grant continued.

     

    In the grand finale in an epic battle St. Kitts prevailed against a valiant Dominica in five sets (25-13, 27-29, 25-19, 19-25, 18-16) to win the regional title. Veteran players, Brenda Allen, tournament MVP, and Antoinette Henry kept St.Kitts in the match with 19 and 18 points respectively while their middle blocker Shanice Dyer kept the Dominica middle attack at bay with five blocks among her 13 points.

     

    It was the People’s Action Movement under the leadership of Dr. The Rt. Hon. Sir Kennedy Simmonds that gave local Volleyball their first big boost when they facilitated the procurement of the first artificial modular playing surface in 1991.

    2. Dominica
    3. St. Lucia
    4. Antigua
    5. Anguilla
    6. French St. Martin
    7. Grenada
    8. St. Vincent and Grenadines
    St. Kitts and Nevis now move on to the NORCECA Continental Championship in 2011
