BASSETERRE, St. Kitts. 28-06-10 (Island Soul Press Release) - The excitement was palpable on the evening of June 26th when the young songstress Rolhensha took to the stage. Patrons at the fourteenth annual St. Kitts Music Festival were instantly taken with the performer’s fetching appearance and her tremendous talent and vocal ability. The sole female Kittitian artiste that evening, Rolhensha rendered a performance so flawless and exceptionally executed it was difficult to imagine that it was her debut at the prestigious event. Rolhensha’s set was an enviable feat of effective stage production and management, complete with backup singers who crooned in sync with her every note, and dancers whose energetic performances kept patrons eagerly anticipating Rolhensha’s next move, next song, next breath.
The singer/songwriter displayed her musical dexterity with songs such as ’Blow Your Mind’, ‘Tee’, ‘Just a Lil Loving’ (her new hit single featuring popular Jamaican artiste Gyptian), ‘Sad Song’ and a ‘St.Kitts I Love You’ medley – a song made famous by calypso icon – King Ellie Matt, which inspired a rousing round of applause from the crowd. Rolhensha moved easily from Pop to Reggae to Rock to R&B, never seeming to misstep, never seeming to wane in confidence and never losing vocal control, even when she was called out for an encore, and spontaneously performed her debut song ‘Defend it’ and ‘Go Rolhy’, a catchy tune she performed in the 2008 Kittitian Superstar competition.
Under overcast skies Rolhensha shone brighter than anyone could have anticipated that night. What is clear is that Rolhensha Henry is a shooting star who is poised to fly through the musical stratosphere.
