O.D. Brisbane to implement security measures following robbery

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Following Monday’s (Jul. 5) robbery incident, O.D. Brisbane and Company Ltd. is taking steps to protect its employees and safeguard against any possible reoccurrence.

The incident, which gave rise to much concern and discussion among management and staff of the company, took place at about 12:30 that afternoon while the vehicle was making deliveries to various areas around the island.

SKNVibes understands that while the vehicle, which was manned by the driver/salesman and a porter, was in the Halfway Tree area, three armed, masked men converged on it and demanded money from the occupants before escaping.

A representative of O.D. Brisbane explained to this media house that the men made off with in excess of $2 000 cash but did not harm the workers.

The spokesperson described the “tragedy” as “saddening” and “troubling” and informed that “we have been thinking about measures which we are going to put in place. We have seen the things that have been happening, especially with the recent Royal Bank of Canada robbery. I have been working here for quite some time and this is the first time that something like this has happened to us. We are however thankful that this didn’t result in any casualty.

“It is now in our backyard and it concerns not only us but everyone in St. Kitts. We are not only concerned about our employees but everyone else, and because of this we are going to put measures in place. This will be done at the earliest opportunity”.

SKNVibes understands that both the salesman and the porter are “doing well” and have reported for duty during the days following.
