BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ANUSHKA RAMJAG, the 2010 Miss Trinidad & Tobago UK, who won the title on May 1 at Tabernacle, Powis Square in London, has decided to relinquish her title due to circumstances beyond her control.
According to the organisers of the event who announced the decision last week, Ramjag would soon be giving up residency in the United Kingdom to return to Trinidad. She is a T&T Government scholar studying for an MSc in Biology at the Imperial College London and will be graduating this year and must return home under the terms of her scholarship.
The First Runner-up, Melanie Peterkin-Phillip, will then take up the position and fulfill all duties as queen. In the event that she cannot do so, the Second Runner-up will be given the title. Phillip also won the award for Miss Elegance on the night of the show while Ramjag took the Miss Personality award.
The T&T beauty said she enjoyed the exposure the title brings with it and has offered to continue to support Miss T&T UK Charity Kind, which is based in Trinidad, when she returns home.
