Royal Bank Branch now open to the public

By: VonDez Phipps, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – EXACTLY seven days after a staged robbery at its Wellington Road Branch, management of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has announced that the Branch has been reopened to the public from yesterday (Jul. 8).

Despite information received earlier this week indicating that the bank could possibly be closed for the entire week, an official communiqué from the financial institution informed that the branch is open for service, thanking customers for their support during the trying time.

The release said, “The Royal Bank of Canada thanks its clients and the public for their patience, understanding and good wishes during the past week.”

Details of security measures going forward have not been disclosed but SKNVibes will report as soon as information is made available.

On Thursday, July 1, a group of armed, masked men entered the bank, which is situated at S.L. Horsford’s Shopping Complex on the southern side of Valu Mart IGA on Wellington Road, and robbed a male customer of his wallet containing an undisclosed sum of money.

One individual, who had been arrested in relation to the robbery, was released on the afternoon of Monday, July 5. To date, no one has been charged in relation to this matter.
