    Several persons were convicted of certain controlled drugs recently Police found two grams of crack cocaine on the premises of Davril Battice of East Street, Newtown.
     
    He was formally arrested and charged with Possession with intent to Supply and Possession of the Controlled Drug crack cocaine.
     
    Theowandi Francis of Half Moon Heights was charged with Possession of the controlled Drug cannabis committed on May 30, 2006. He was later bailed in the sum of $5,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on June 12, 2006.
     
    While carrying out another search operation in the Taylors Village area the canine unit dogs, found one thousand (1000) grams of compressed cannabis buried in sand on an empty plot of land.
     
    The drug was taken into police custody and investigations are continuing into who may be responsible for them. The drug has an estimated street value of $8,500.00 Eastern Caribbean Currency.
     
    On Tuesday May, 30, officers recovered a .38 revolver with two (2) .38 rounds of ammunition. The weapon is suspected to have been used in the December 16, 2004 murder of Loxley James of Challengers Village.
     
    Investigations are also ongoing in light of this new evidence. On January, 26 2006, Joshua Roach of Cardin Avenue, Basseterre was charged with the murder of James.
     
    Members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Defence Force carried out search operations On May 30 in the Godwin Ghaut area. Two bags containing vegetable material suspected of being cannabis were found in a ghaut and taken into police custody, however no-one was made answerable for them.
     
    On May 30, Elston Phillip of The Alley, Sandy Point was charged with Attempted Arson committed on May 28, 2006 when he attempted to set fire to the house of another Sandy Point resident.
     
    Kennedy Joseph of Shadwell and Karim Hutton of Ponds Pasture, Basseterre were both charged with the offence of obstruction in relation to the drug prevention of misuse act.
     
    On the night of Monday May 29, the two men were driving along the island main road at Cayon Village.
     
    Their vehicle struck the car driven by Cayon Police Station officers and as the officers spoke to the men, the driver took something from the vehicle and ran away.
     
    He was caught and subsequently both men were charged with the aforementioned offence.
     
    They were later bailed in the sum of $10,000.00 each, to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court May 31.
     
    At the Sandy Point Magistrate Court on May 30, 2006 June Nolan of Downing Street, Sandy Point who was charged with the offence of Larceny committed on May 12 2006, was convicted and sentenced to one month hard labour.
     
    Bernell Duncan of The Ghaut, Sandy Point who was charged with assaulting a police officer committed on August 13, 2005, was convicted and sentenced to two months hard labour.
     
    He was also convicted and sentenced for the offence of being armed with an offensive weapon where he was cautioned.
     
    In Charlestown on May 30, Cleve David of Cotton Ground who was subsequently charged with the offence of carrying abroad an offensive weapon to which a knife, committed on May 13 2006.
     
    He was convicted and fined $300.00 in two months or in default serve one month imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    Michael Daniel of Rawlins Village, was charged with the offence of Threatening Language committed on January 31, 2006. He was convicted and fined $500.00 in two months or in default serve one month imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    Joseph Woodley of Cotton Ground Village, was charged with the offence of Driving without due care and attention committed on 24th May 2006.
     
    He was convicted and fined $500.00 in three months or in default serve one month imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    Debra Jeffers of Cotton Ground Village, was charged with the offence of Indecent Language committed on March 2, 2006. She was convicted and fined $200.00 in two months or in default serve fourteen days imprisonment with hard labour.
     
    Roselyn Jeffers of Cotton Ground Village, who was charged with the offence of Indecent Language committed on 24th May 2006 was convicted and fined. She was fined $200.00 in two months or in default serve fourteen days imprisonment with hard labour.
