Police destroyed four kilo blocks of cocaine. |
(Basseterre; St. Kitts) The Drug Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police recently destroyed an estimated street value of five million eastern Caribbean worth of cannabis plants and blocks of cocaine.
On Thursday June 1st, the officers destroyed the drugs by fire at the Conaree Landfill that were over 21,000 cannabis plants and four kilo blocks of cocaine.
The drugs were netted as a result of various stop and search, house search and eradication operations over the past eight months.
On May 31, Nikoyan Greaux of Malone Avenue, Basseterre was charged with "being armed with an offensive weapon" and "Disorderly conduct by making noise" committed on May 31.
At the Basseterre Magistrate Court, Elmond Duncan of Wade Street, Cayon was charged with Wounding with intent committed. The offence was committed on May 17, 2006 and he was bailed in the sum of $10,000.00. He is to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on July 3, 2006.
Davril Battice of East Street, Newtown, Basseterre who was charged with Possession of a controlled drug (crack cocaine) committed on 31st May 2006 was later bailed in the sum of $20,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 12th June 2006.

The Police Force is appealing to the general public for assistance in their investigations of a shooting incident that occurred in the Newtown area of Basseterre. The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 31 2006 at about 4:00 p.m.
A seventy-one-year-old male adult of Carty Alley Newton received an abrasion under his foot while sitting in front of his house.

He was treated for his injuries at the J.N.F Hospital and was later discharged. A male adult from the Basseterre area is presently assisting the police with their investigation into the incident.
