(Basseterre; St. Kitts) On June 2, 2006, officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Defense Force carried out a number of search operations in the Basseterre and St. Peters areas.
As a result of these operations a number of cannabis plants and vegetable material were taken into custody with four persons. The following persons were charged with drug offences stemming from the operations;
Sami Adams and Bernel Williams of George Street Newtown were charged with Possession with Intent to Supply and Possession of a Controlled Drug (Cannabis).
Patrick Rover Hanley of Needmust was charged with Cultivation of a Controlled Drug, Possession with Intent to Supply and Possession of a Controlled Drug (Cannabis).
Also as a result of the operation one Compaq laptop was taken into police custody pending further investigations.
The estimated street value of the drugs found is approximately $2,300.00 E.C.
On 1st June 2006, Keithroy Matthew of Molyneaux Village was charged with the offence Grievous Bodily Harm committed on 24th May 2006 at Molyneaux.
At the High Court on 1st June 2006, Sylvester Boone of Victoria Road who was indicted for the offence of Larceny was sentenced to serve three (3) years imprisonment after he changed his previous plea of not guilty to guilty.
At the Basseterre Magistrate Court, Shane Scott alias Shaw Scott of Lodge Estate who was charged with Disorderly conduct by making noise and Threatening Language committed on 16th May 2005, was convicted and fined $400.00 in one (1) week or serve one (1) month imprisonment and $500.00 in two (2) weeks or serve one (1) month imprisonment respectively.
On a second charge of Disorderly conduct by making noise and Indecent Language committed on 25th January 2005, Scott was convicted and placed on a bond in the sum of $2,000.00 to keep the peace and be of good behavior for twelve (12) months, for the charge of disorderly conduct For the charge of indecent language he was convicted and cautioned.
