BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FRESH from their breath-taking performances at the St. Kitts Music Festival, Rolensha and Infamus, along with other top Kittitians performers, will be performing at this weekend’s ‘Culture Galore’ organised by the Theocracy Reign Ancient Order of Melchiezedek House of David.

The event will also feature Ashkenaz, DC, Silk, Sankofa Lion, Dagah, Ras Khalid, Jungles, Shalakai and Empress Mekkiha, as well as dancing, drumming and African modelling on Sunday, July 18 at the Old Girls School.

The event will be hosted by Empress Winnielle.

According to Sankofa Anbessa Amasiah Maccabbee, a.k.a. Sankofa Lion, Secretary of the Theocracy Reign Ancient Order of Melchiezedek House of David, the organisers had planned the fundraiser event to specifically feature local artistes.

“We really want to feature the home-grown artistes because the people don’t push out enough effort to come and see them, unless they’re on a show with an international performer. So we want to bring back that culture, like back in the days with the House of Judea, and we held dances that had good turnout.

“It’s a spiritual event, not a jump up event. When one comes to the event it would not be about checking for a woman or man, but about hearing conscious artistes. One of the good things about our artistes is that they don’t follow the trend with slackness. Most of the reggae artistes we have been conscious, following a trend that had already been set in the past by the House of Judea and Melcheizedek School. Consciousness has been what we been promoting and the majority of artistes on the show are conscious artistes,” he said.

Maccabbee said that the event is being hosted as a fundraiser for the Trinity Trod Alliance of which their group is affiliate for the past six years.

This year will be the sixth annual Trinity Trod Alliance gathering that will be held in St. Kitts, and it will be from July 22 to 25.
