CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, July 19, 2010 - Cricketing Coach within the Ministry of Social Development Carl Tuckett has indicated that the first week of the 2010 Bank of Nevis Cricket Coaching clinic went very well.
The young cricketers have been divided into various groups based on their ages and several of the under 19 cricketers on Nevis have volunteered to assist in coaching the youngsters.
According to Tuckett who is the chief Coordinator of the program, during the first week, quite a lot of time was spent on fielding and catching drills as these have been determined as weak areas.
On Friday morning, the young cricketers engaged in the theory of the game and were taught the basics in terms of the grip on the bat, stance, the use of the crease as a bowler and they were also taught to differentiate the different creases and their purpose.
This week they will be able to do a lot more batting and bowling and Tuckett is estimating that by Tuesday 20th July, he would be able to commence a series of matches between the various age groups which will serve as a fitting climax to the two week camp.
