Ten for Culturama Calypso Semi-Finals

Reigning King I-Soursop.
By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THIS Saturday (July 24), the rumble will be on in Nevis as 10 Semi-Finalists are scheduled to compete in the 2010 Culturama TDC Senior Kaiso contest to be held at the Nevis Cultural Complex from 8:00 p.m.

The 10 calypsonians, who will battle for a place in the Finals slated for Saturday, July 31, are Baker, Hollywood, Daddy Nature, Pupa Wheeler, Watusi, Queen Kibby, Dis N Dat, Astro, Lus Man and Nutsie.

They will each sing two songs and seven of them will be chosen to compete in the Finals against the reigning King I-Soursop.

I-Soursop made history last year in the Federation when for the first time in 35 years a Kittitian had captured the Culturama Senior Kaiso crown. He won the crown with ‘We are too small’ and ‘Don’t lose it’, which gained him 506 points out of a possible 600.

Many are wondering if the lyrically-incline calypsonian has what it takes to make history again by winning the crown on two consecutive occasions.
