BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal Logistics-sponsored Alsanarda Hanley of St. Kitts last night (Jul. 25) won the first ever Miss Culture Swimsuit Pageant in a closely contested competition held at the Cultural Complex in Nevis.

Hanley, who amassed a total of 569.5 points, edged out Miss Z-Moss Felicia Silcott, also of St. Kitts, by a mere point to capture the coveted crown. Shenelle Isaac, sponsored by Beyond Homes, was adjudged Second Runner-up with 493 points.

Hanley also won the Creative Wear segment. It was evident that most of the patrons were impressed by the creation she wore, which represented her sponsor and was created by Deslyn Daniel of St. Kitts.

However, not to be outdone, Silcott, who was awarded the prizes for Miss Amity, Miss Photogenic, winner of the One-Piece and Two-Piece Swimsuits, also made impressive appearances in both swimsuit segments that excited the crowd.

The other contestants were Miss Carib Brewery T-Shari Hull, who had seemed to be the crowd’s favorite; Miss Daniel Family Foundation Nicole Stephens; Miss NEVLEC Kersha Martin; Miss SKN Kitchen & Bath Treshina Joshua; and Miss Greenheart Homes Nevis Ltd. Sheba Williams-Jeffers.

The Miss Culture Swimwear Pageant was held under the theme “I am Woman – The Beauty in Me!”, and many patrons had complained about the late start and hiccups that prevented the show from running smoothly.

This is not the first win for Hanley, who is a member of S Model Management. She was awarded the Top Model prize of her agency and had represented St. Kitts in the Miss Caribbean Talented Teen, among others events.

She has won herself a cash prize of EC$2 500.

According to Chairperson Nichole Lawrence-Williams, the Miss Culture Swimsuit Pageant was separated from the Miss Culture Pageant that will be held on August 1, as a means of giving exposure to young ladies who are interested in modelling.
