Sandy Point Primary School’s Top Performers awarded by LIME

LIME Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS: July 27, 2010  Graduation Ceremonies have become a rite of passage that marks one stage of a person’s life to another.  In the case of the recent graduation at the Sandy Point Primary School the celebration was noteworthy because the grade 6 students will now transition to high school.  We called it “moving up” a few years ago before graduations became so popular in this part of the world.

In addition to the encouragement in the forms of poems and addresses from education officials at these ceremonies, the students no doubt look forward to parading to the stage to collect their prizes and certificates of achievement. Smartly outfitted in cap and gown this is an absolute moment of joy that is often witnessed by proud parents, siblings and sometimes even grandmas and grandpas.

The Graduation Ceremony of the Sandy Point Primary School provided all that and more on Wednesday 7 July, 2010.  Former Chief Executive of LIME and the school’s Corporate Adopter, Patricia Walters sponsored a number of the prizes that were presented to both students and teachers whose performance during the last school year merited special recognition.  These included two trophies that were presented as the Impressive Girl Award and the Sports Personality Award.

Juwanna Caines and K’ Shaughnn Wyatt were the respective winners of these awards.

Conrawl Rogers, Keriese Richardson and Esther Garnette, named the school’s three most improved students, each received a cheque for EC$100 compliments Patricia Walters.  LIME’s affiliation with the school as Corporate Adopter also ensured that each of the sixty (60) grade six graduands received gifts of bags and calculators.

“From my initial contact with the school, we have always enjoyed a very productive partnership and for this I wish to express gratitude to the principal and teachers. Five years after we embarked on our Adopt a School programme I am pleased that the commitment to education continues with this relationship. On behalf of LIME and my own behalf we offer very best wishes to the graduating class and wish the students a successful journey on this path of life-long learning,” said Patricia Walters.

The spotlight also shone on four of the schools’ teachers  who were  honoured for their years of service.   They each received gift certificates from LIME valued at EC$200.

For her longstanding support and partnership with the institution, the school named  Patricia Walters its Honoree of the Year at the Graduation ceremony.
