BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SANGRENA Harris representing Anguilla captured the Miss Caribbean Culture title while St. Kitts represented by Lanein Blanchette placed second runner-up last evening July 27.
Amassing a total of 1422 points, Harris also captured the Best Interview segment while Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Keda Pascal was adjudged first runner up, being awarded 1369 points and also captured the Miss Amity award.
Blanchette who placed second runner-up with 1333.5 points was followed closely by Miss Barbados Tanika Walton who was awarded 1313 points as third runner-up.
Miss St. Maarten/St. Martin, Marjorie Ramirez won the awards for Best Promotional video and Miss Photogenic while Miss Nevis, Masinda Nisbett won the Swimwear segment.
The Best Talent award was won by Miss Montserrat, Sherylene Dyer while Miss Dominica won Best Evening Wear.
The other participating country was Miss St. Croix represented by Marcellina Ventura.
At the Miss Carival Pageant held in St. Vincent on July 2, Harris placed third runner-up and also captured the award for the Best Community Spirit.
Although she failed to win the hearts of the judges for any of the top positions at the Miss Caribbean World Pageant held in Tortola on March 27, Harris was awarded Miss Photogenic.
Harris hardly has time to celebrate her recent coronation in Nevis as she has to begin preparations immediately for the upcoming Miss Caribbean Jaycees Pageant which will be held in Antigua on July 30.
Miss Dominica, Marcia Baptiste as well as Miss St Kitts and Nevis, Sudeakka Francis will also be competing in the Miss Caribbean Jaycees Pageant.
The Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant was held as part of the Culturama celebrations in Nevis under the theme “Embracing a Fusion of Caribbean Culture” a caption designed to reflect the Caribbean is a melting pot of traditions, customs and folklore.
The guest artistes who were scheduled to perform during the pageant included Infamus, King Konris, Ryanna Wong, Pan Ensemble, and Eclectic Band featuring King Meeko.
The 2009 Miss Caribbean Culture Mariece Roberts who hails from St. Kitts took her final walk as Queen.
