BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MOTORISTS had much to celebrate at yesterday’s (Jul. 28) grand opening of the Federation’s only 24-hour Delta Petroleum (Caribbean) Ltd. (DP) service station, as company officials promised to deliver higher standards of service and more money-saving deals.

The OOJJ’s station was bright with beaming yellow and blue banners, ushering in the official company into the Camps service complex.

Many motorists and company officials were present to witness the grand opening of the 24-hour station, the second of its kind by Delta Petroleum in the region within the last 60 days. Nevis DP Island Manager Sharon Hobson said the opening of the new station reflects the vision and foresight of the company, which secures Delta’s position as being the “leader of the petroleum industry”.

“We are very confident in the quality of the products that we offer and so we can boast today as being the number one in the Caribbean. As always, Delta is forever dependable and reliable, efficient and economical. We are the leader in the industry and we trust that you will give us the opportunity to serve you as we will ensure that we always have affordable prices,” the Nevisian company representative said at the opening ceremony.

The Federation saw the opening of the very first 24-hour service station in December 2001, when local contractor Othniel Heyliger offered a service distinguished by reliability and dependability. That operation lasted just about six years, and some two years after its closure Hyliger and Delta Petroleum were able to strike an agreement to return the idea of a reliable 24-hour service to the islands.

Describing the event as a “proud moment”, Heyliger placed his trust in DP and urged motorists to “continue to be the good customers that you all have been to OOJJ’s 24-hour operation. Delta, I could almost be certain, will not give you any lesser standard and quality of service”.

The opening of Delta’s newest service station does not only symbolise an increase in options for drivers, but it also means that motorists can expect a major change in the way business is done. This was the promise of DP’s Regional General Manager Bevis Sylvester.

“Delta Petroleum is here today to bring change; change to the industry of the petroleum business. Business is not going to be as usual! Expect and embrace change!

“This market is full of customers that are looking for better service and prices where possible. I am here to say that Delta Petroleum guarantees excellent service and good prices,” Sylvester said.

The Regional head stressed that while the company would seek to offer great price deals, the distinguishing factor must be its service – one that would guarantee a smile and repeat customers. He urged employees to recognise their role in developing the company and placed his commitment on the record to invest in community development.

“In checking Delta’s record, it is clear that we believe in Community enhancement. It is clear also that we share in open door policy where our customers can interact with us at all levels,” Sylvester added.
The first 20 vehicles that pulled up at Delta’s pumps yesterday each left with a full tank of free gas, and during the entire day motorists waited in long lines to benefit from bonus deals.

Delta promises to continue serving the Caribbean with better service and better prices.
