BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE song that speaks about all the great adventures that could be experienced in St. Kitts and Nevis will finally have a music video showcasing just what it addresses.
‘A Day in the Life’, which is performed by local Hip-Hop artistes Vakeel ‘Lex’ Pereira and Shahib ‘Simp’ Gillard featuring Nerissa Mourillon, will have its music video aired on Pep TV with Sugar Bowl on Wednesday, August 4.
In an interview with SKNVibes, the two artistes said the video shoot lasted over three weeks as scenes were shot in both St. Kitts and Nevis.
Gillard, who declared that it was his second music video while his first was with Da Embassy (‘Put My Lips on You’), said after shooting they had six hours of footage that they had to use for a video that lasts no more than four minutes.
According to Gillard, one of the scenes was shot at Golden Rock, Nevis in which one of the world’s wealthiest living artistes had invested. That artiste is Brice Marden.
“Those scenes make the video appears as though it was not shot in the Federation…and it was a pleasure to shoot at that location,” he said.
Pereira said that scenes were also shot at Caribelle Batik, Sky Safaris and on a yacht.
They also shot at an old plantation, the Southeast Peninsula and Cockle Shell Beach.
“We tried to make it the most amazing video anyone has ever seen, capturing the beauty of the islands,” Gillard said.
The video was produced by Giles Dickenson and directed by both artistes, who said the producer captured exactly what they wanted to portray.
The artistes would like to thank the management of TDC for sponsoring the video, who they said first heard the song posted along with an article on SKNVibes.
“The video is a good way to promote the island, promote tourism and show the beauty of the Federation. TDC came on board to sponsor the video and we want to thank them. They thought it would be good to market their travel agency,” Gillard said.
They also extended thanks to Noah Mills of Sen Consultancy, Petal Designs, Models and everyone for their time and patience in helping to make the video what it is.
“We’re coming out with a new song shortly, and if anyone is interested in promoting their business, they can do so by contacting us. We’re not just about putting music out there because we can, but music that can be used as a marketing tool for any company,” they said.
