THE VALLEY, Anguilla – FOUR contestants will be participating tomorrow night (Aug. 5) in a pageant to become the holder of the 2010 Anguilla Queen title, which will be held at Landsome Bowl at 8:00 p.m.
The contestants are Shellya Rogers, Vanessa Edwards, Cindy Isaacs and Deidra Bell who will compete under the theme ‘My Anguilla, My Pride, My Joy’.
They will be judged in Introductory Speech, Talent, Swimsuit, Costume, Evening Wear and Interview. Prizes for the queen include EC$8 000, Dell Notebook Computer, LIME phone package and gift bags.
According to the pageants’ website, the idea behind the theme is not only to educate visitors to the island but also to remind Anguillans' of what their home has to offer.
The website also noted that the Anguilla Queen Pageant captures the essence of drama, suspense, glamour, talent, discipline and character; all of the key ingredients in the melting pot that is Carnival.
It further noted that the pageant is the ultimate platform within the Summer Festival activities for the chosen candidates to display strength of self in an extremely competitive environment.
