BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HOT ROD is bringing something new for his fans and showing off his versatility with his new single - ‘I Still Love You’.
The reigning Best of the Rest Calypso King said he wrote the song which was recorded at Jeffrey Brooks studio.
“This is for the fans to let them know that I’m versatile and I can do various styles of music for all my fans here and abroad,” he said.
Hot Rod, whose real name is Jamal Butler but most know him as ‘De Turkey Killer’, first tickled the nation in 2005 with his witty calypso ‘Shantel’, which had everyone chanting “Me’s a turkey, killer…Shontelle you turkey dead”.
Butler’s songs have always been well received. In 2006 he released ‘Melissa’, ‘Sandra’ and ‘Just Do it’, and in 2007 and 2008 he released ‘Tie You Cat’ and ‘Don’t accuse me’, respectively.
In 2005, he placed First Runner-up in the Best of the Rest Competition with ‘Shantel’ and was Second Runner-up in 2008 with ‘Don’t accuse me’.
His 2009 tune, ‘P-peep’, enabled him to capture the Best of the Rest crown, a crown he intends to defend in December.
“I am hoping to win again this year,” he said.
He extends special thanks to all of his fans for their tremendous support.
