    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, August 9, 2010 - Director of Sports Lincoln Barry has indicated that the Ministry of Sports’ summer program will begin today at various venues in Charlestown.

     

    For the next two weeks children who have registered will be taught the basics in various sporting disciplines.

     

    At the Charlestown Secondary School Villa grounds the Football program will be held under the watchful eyes of Leroy ‘Jun Jun’ Sweeney. At Nevis’ premier sporting venue, the Elquemedo Willet Park, the focus will be Cricket under the tutelage of Carl Tuckett and Tonito Willet.  Netball will be coached at the Grell Hull-Stevens Netball Complex with Govanie Manners and Lydia Thompson Claxton, the Coaches.  Tennis will be coached at the Hard court at Stoney Grove with Anthony Webbe and ‘Blackie’ Phillip as the Coaches.

     

    It is understood that two persons registered for Basketball but the coaching of that sport would be sorted out later today.  All of the sessions are set to run from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon daily.
