BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RIDING off the success of his hit single ‘Hold Yuh’, Jamaican artiste Gyptian held a party in Florida for the release of his third album of the same title on Friday, August 6.
According to an interview with the Jamaica Gleaner a few months ago, Gyptian said there is now a difference in his music.
“There's a lot of difference in me now. First, there is maturity and the music I produce is positive music. I have been around and know that music is the strongest thing around. How I know that music is powerful? Look where it has brought me. Music did all of this, it brought everything,” he said.
With past hits like ‘Beautiful Lady’, ‘Serious Times’, ‘I Can Feel Your Pain’ and his recent ‘Hold You’, the new album is said to feature more of the sweet talking lyrics that has the potential to bedazzle women.
The album has 15 tracks, including ‘Rendezvous’, ‘Where You Belong’, ‘Drive Me Crazy’ and ‘Na Na Na (A Love Song)’ ‘Leave Us Alone’, ‘Nah Let Go’ and ‘So Much In Love’.
His hit single ‘Hold Yuh’ has spawned two popular remixes from raptress Nicki Minaj and dancehall veteran Lady Saw.
The album also features ‘Beautiful Lady’, the romantic up-tempo track from his debut album, ‘My Name is Gyptian’.
‘Hold You’ is said to be dedicated to the ladies, as some of the tracks express his passion for the opposite sex and what motivates his life-force.
The album closes with the heartfelt dedication track “Selah”.
The conscious-thinking reggae singer, born Windel Edwards on October 25, 1983, is hoping that with this album he would go into a category of his own as he presents the future of reggae music.
