Road Town, Tortola - The Social Development Department is inviting all residents to participate in its Back-to School Supplies and Uniform Drive.

This initiative aims to collect various school supplies to assist needy families in the Territory. Chief Social Development Officer Mrs. Annie Malone-Frett said it is being done in view of the difficult financial climate.

“As a result of the current financial climate, we found it necessary to further reach out to parents who are having difficulties purchasing school supplies and uniforms while balancing other financial commitments. With this in mind, we are seeking generous assistance from community members who can donate school supplies for children who are in need,” she said.

Mrs. Malone-Frett further stated that items such as copy books, pens, pencils, binder leaves, rulers, erasers, sharpeners, crayons and new uniform apparel are welcomed.

Interested persons can get further information by either contacting the Social Development Department at telephone number 494-3431, or visiting the office at Botanic Station, next to the Happy Lion Restaurant. Donations can also be taken to the Department’s main office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development aspires to provide leadership that promotes health, social wellbeing, and a safe environment as positive resources for living and sustainable development of the Territory.
