BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Newtown resident was early this morning (Aug. 16) shot in the neck and is in critical condition at the JNF Hospital.

Reports reaching SKNVibes indicate that 29-year-old Javed Johnson, alias ‘Fathead’, of East Street, Newtown was shot sometime after mid-night in the vicinity of Mad House Alley in Newtown.

The reports further indicate that he was shot in the neck and is paralysed on the left side of his body.

Police have confirmed that Johnson was shot and taken to the JNF Hospital. However, they could not have provided much information on the incident, but informed that no one has so far been arrested and investigations are ongoing.

This is not the first time that Johnson was the victim of a shooting incident. On Sunday, December 9, 2007 he was shot by a member of the Federation’s security forces.

According to a press release from the Force’s Public Relations Office, officers of the Strike Force, on Sunday, attempted to arrest Johnson as he was suspected of being involved in a shooting incident.

The press release informed that as a result, an altercation ensued and Johnson was shot; following which he was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Persons who may have information relative to the shooting of Javed ‘Fathead’ Johnson are asked to contact the CID at 465-2241 ext. 230.  Any information given will be treated with the strictest confidence and can be divulged on condition of anonymity.
