Officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Drug Unit today uprooted a total of five hundred and sixty (560) cannabis plants which were found growing in the Stapleton area.
The plants ranged in height from one (1") inch to six and a half (6 ½') feet and have an estimated street value of approximately seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) E.C.
No one was held accountable for the find and the plants were uprooted and taken into police custody.
The following persons were arrested and charged on 7th June 2006;
·Darryle Jederon of Lower Market Street, Basseterre was charged with the offence of "Possession of a
Controlled Drug" cannabis, committed on 7th June 2006.
·Sandra Roberts of New Road Housing was charged with the offence of "Battery" committed on 7th June 2006. She was later bailed in the sum of $1,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 12th June 2006.
At the High Court on 8th June 2006, Reese Williams of LodgeVillage, who was indicted on a charge of "Wounding With Intent" had his case heard.
The charge was withdrawn as he pleaded guilty to a second charge of Unlawful Wounding and was fined $4,000.00 in six months or in default to serve two (2) years imprisonment.
At the Charlestown Magistrate Court, Jai Paul Manjal a native of Guyana residing at Bath Village Nevis, who was charged with the offence of "Wounding" committed on 3rd June 2006 was convicted and cautioned for the said offence and it was also ordered that he be deported to his native country.
~~Adz:Right~~The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the assistance of the public in their investigation of a home invasion that took place in the Conyers Development area.
During the early morning hours of Friday 2nd June 2006, a thirty-five (35) year-old male adult was shot in his home by an intruder. He was treated for his injury at the J.N.FHospital and later discharged.
