De Royalty Elderly Home: Royal treatment awaits you!

De Royalty Elderly Home in Sandy Point
By: VonDez Phipps, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DE ROYALTY ELDERLY HOME, the nation’s newest facility for nursing and residential care, is poised to inject a very high standard of professional service for seniors in the Federation, thereby revolutionising convalescent care as it is locally known.

Nestled in the calm of Crab Hill Sandy Point, the new facility offers a creative schedule for clients, a professional and experienced nursing staff and equipment at the cutting edge of the healthcare sector.

This is the assurance given by co-owner Jacquelin Duncan, a trained nurse with 26 years of experience under her belt.

“We know there are other homecare facilities out there but we want to make a difference. The first thing we did was to buy the proper beds that can be adjusted to facilitate better breathing. Even amputees and persons who may have suffered strokes, most of them are nursed in the bed directly to bathe. We don’t have to do that, we have new facilities and we also have shower chairs to give them a full bath as often as necessary. We also have walking aids and health aids,” she told SKNVibes.

Duncan brings with her a passion for healthcare and years of experience and training in every level of nursing, including intensive care and geriatric training. The business is the latest addition to the Ken’s Business subsidiaries, joining Ken’s Car Rentals, Ken’s Apartments and Ken’s Trucking Services. And, this venture is expected to be of equal success.

Apart from the use of cutting-edge equipment, Duncan is supported by a team of trained nurses working on a rotational 24-hour basis. The new home offers comprehensive nursing packages, including therapeutic, nursing and convalescent care to the elderly. The all-inclusive packages offer regular testing of blood sugar level and blood pressure, as well as geriatric diapers and local prescription medicines – provisions that are often not supplied free of cost.

The Crab Hill home provides spacious rooms for the elderly to continue a comfortable life in professional healthcare. The facility boasts three major divisions - a lounge and waiting area, a serene outside deck, entertainment area and bathrooms that are furnished to accommodate patients with minor aches and those with limb amputations.

De Royalty Elderly Home also has a roster of events including tours, relaxing outings, games, visitation and religious moments throughout the weekly stay to offer your loved ones a peaceful experience.

Getting your senior family members in De Royalty Home is very easy, as the new home provides a number of flexible, reasonably-priced packages to accommodate its clients. For EC$100 your loved ones can be covered for an entire day; for EC$500 they will receive professional care for one full week; and if you decide to choose the permanent living arrangement, an all-inclusive EC$2 000 will secure a place for that loved one every month, however, clients who require special attention will be given special rates.

“We have been in contact with our family dietician and we have our menu, so families will know what their loved ones are eating. At De Royalty Elderly Home, we promote quality care to our clients and they can be assured that their loved ones will settle in a clean, serene environment pampered with love and care,” Duncan added.

Known Sandy Point entrepreneur and husband of Jacquelin, Ken Duncan said it is important to improve the standard of elderly healthcare offered in St. Kitts and Nevis and that this is one of the ventures he is entirely supportive of.

“She told me that she wanted to start this business and I said yes, I will support you because that is truly what she spent her entire life doing. We want to keep giving back to the community and we are hoping to improve the quality of convalescent and nursing care with De Royalty Elderly Home,” Ken said.

The healthcare facility can host up to 12 clients, and securing a spot for your loved one is just a call away. De Royalty Elderly Home is ready to accept patients and will see its official opening in September, covering local, regional and international clients.

Place you call at (869) 465-3706 or (869) 662-3155 and give your loved ones a true home away from home.
