Cherane…‘De Dancer’

Cherane Fyfield
By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TO many it is just entertainment but for her it is what she loves to do, and she has been doing it from a tender age.

Meet Cherane Fyfield, a 19-year-old who is known for her outrageous, hype and creative moves that catch the eyes of many and make them wonder, “How did she do that?”

Not only has Fyfield been dancing just for the love of it, but she has won herself a number of competitions. She is currently the first Dancehall Queen of Saddle Fiesta, as she won the title last year September amassing 1 263 points and beating out four other competitors in the process.

The young beauty, although described by many as being ‘mad’, said dancing would always be something she loves, as it makes her feel happy and free.

“There are always some people with a lot to say but I don’t care…this is what I love,” said the dancer.

Fyfield is currently employed at Jaro Ltd. and resides in the Mc Knight community, where she is well known.

You can be assured that if Fyfield is present at any concert or event where the DJ or host asks for participants to get onstage and dance, she is certainly the first one to take up the challenge. On many occasions she can be seen with the Triple S DJ, Sweet Sister Sensia, showing off her dancing skills and hyping up the crowd while the DJ warms up the event.

Recently, SKNVibes has learnt that each Wednesday at the Frigate Bay Strip, a certain bar hosts ‘Wild Wednesdays’ where females participate in dancing competitions and wet T-shirt contests. Fyfield is one of those females and has remained undefeated to date.

Last Wednesday she was seen climbing walls and dancing in the ceiling of the bar, showing off her flexibility to her lone challenger and winning herself an undisclosed sum of money.

A boasting Fyfield said with a smile, “There are certain competitions I let other people win sometimes just to encourage people so they won’t be afraid to go up against me.”

SKNVibes PEP asked Fyfield how her boyfriend feels about her dancing in the presence of so many people and entering competitions, and she simply relied, “I’m single.”

Although her dancing skills have given her the opportunity to grace many local stages, Fyfield said she would love more than anything the opportunity for an overseas experience to show off her talent.
