J-Luv sings about new found love

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A new face has been added to the local music industry and the artiste, who goes by moniker J-Luv, has recently released a song titled ‘I Cry’ that is receiving positive feedback on YouTube and Facebook.

Born Janelle Woodley and hails from Sandy Point, J-Luv she sings about her new found love who she refers to as her ‘King Man’, to let him know that whenever he cries she also cries because she loves him and would never leave his side.

The self-composed song, like all her other tracks, was recorded at DJ Kels studio in Greenlands, and according to Woodley, this is not her first attempt at singing but her first as a solo artiste.

“I started singing in 2003 and performed on the St. Kitts Music Festival Beach Bash. At that time, I was singing things that were, in my opinion, somewhat negative only because I was singing in a group. However, on the night of the Beach Bash, Masud Sadiki, whom I've known for years, confronted me and gave me words of wisdom. Therefore, I left the group and started singing with my sister for events at Brimstone Hill, such as Emancipation Day when we sang other international artiste’s songs,” Woodley explained.

“I want to appeal to everyone, but young people in particular, to make a positive impact in their lives,” she added.

Woodley also noted that ‘I Cry’ has been receiving positive feedback since its release last week on YouTube and Facebook, while adding that she has already been getting offers to perform at events.

When asked about future plans for her music career, the young mother said, “People can definitely look forward to many more songs, by the grace of God...I've recorded four songs to date but I'm waiting on the perfect time to release them.”

She declared that ‘Get Away’ is another soon to be released single which speaks about getting lost in one’s self-thoughts.

The singer said she views her music as creative, emotional and that most of her songs are based on her experiences.
