BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH the expectant passage of Hurricane Earl, the Traffic Department of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is advising the general public that a section of Lozack Road would be closed to vehicular traffic from today (Aug. 29).
According to a press release, …“the portion of Lozack Road between Burt Street and East Park Range will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 p.m. on August 29.
Motorists are also advised not to park along this portion of road as the structural integrity of the Park’s perimeter fence is questionable.”
This warning comes in the wake of damages to a section of the southern perimeter fence of the Warner Park Cricket Stadium, which was caused by a thunderstorm on the night of Monday, July 19, 2010 that lasted until early the following morning.
The thunderstorm caused the fence to lean precariously over the parapet on the southern side of the Cricket Stadium along Lozack Road.
When the thunderstorm abated, a number of barriers were erected along the damaged section of the fence. Since then, employees of the Ministry of Works had erected a number of jacks in an effort to prevent it from collapsing.
Meanwhile, all police officers are asked to report to their respective stations by 2100 (7:00 p.m.) hours today.
