The Labor Day festivities are getting started the right way with this unprecedented concert. Destra hails from Trinidad, the birthplace of Soca and is world-renowned for her voice as well as her high energy performances and unique sense of fashion. Destra’s 2003 hit 'It’s a Carnival' rocketed her to super-stardom and became an unofficial anthem of the annual Trinidad & Tobago Carnival celebration. Since this early success, Destra has had hits like 'We Luv Carnival' and 'I Dare You', both which represent her signature Soca style.
Alison Hinds is originally from Barbados and the flavor of the island is indelibly stamped on her music. She shot to world-wide fame with the release of her mega-hit 'Roll It Gal' and since then, has been releasing hits steadily. Throughout her career, Alison has been instrumental in introducing Soca music to a wider audience all around the globe.
Both Alison & Destra have resumes which give them the right to claim the title of 'Queen of Soca' and each year, with the release of more great music from each of them, the argument amongst their fans rages on. While the argument may go unsettled, one thing is certain - that each of these ladies puts on one of the best shows of any genre.
Joining Destra & Alison on this special night will be The Mighty Sparrow, the Calypso King. Sparrow will be acting as the host and is the perfect person to round out this star-studded show. Sparrow was started in music making Calypso but was one of the first artists to embrace Soca as it gained popularity during the late 1970s in Trinidad.
