BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – GAY activists continue to denounce reggae and dancehall artistes as they make their voices heard when it comes to songs with anti-gay lyrics.

The latest of these artistes is Sizzla Kalonji, who has once again had another concert of his concerts cancelled.

Sizzla was scheduled to perform in Germany at the Chiemsee Reggae Summer Concert as part of his European tour but he recently found out that it was cancelled.

According to 876radio, it was understood that there was heavy pressure for several weeks from gay groups and politicians. The decision to cancel the tour was made for safety reasons because they could not guarantee the safety of patrons, as a huge amount of protestors are planning to attend the event during Sizzla's performance.

Last October, while Sizzla was on an European tour, a number of his concerts were cancelled due to gay protesters.

In 2007, two of his concerts in Toronto and Montreal were cancelled after protests from ‘Stop Murder Music’ Canada coalition. Sizzla responded to critics with a song titled ‘Nah Apologise’, which started out with the lyrics “Rastaman don't apologise to no batty-boy”.

Sizzla, whose real name is Miguel Collins, is known for his many uplifting, conscience Rastafarian lyrics but, at the same time, is described as very critical.

Fellow Jamaican artistes Elephant Man and Buju Banton have met the same fate in recent times.
Sizzla performed in St. Kitts in June for the annual St. Kitts Music Festival.
