BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- AS SKNVibes PEP continues to provide the public with ideas and entertaining topics designed to put a smile in your day, and to offer temporary relief for just a moment from some of the depressing headlines and other mundane activities, the following question was posed to various persons in the society.
What is a ‘boopser’? In St. Kitts and like many other places, there are our own unique words or phrases used to describe certain things. ‘Boopsing’ is one such word which is found in the local vocabulary. So SKNVibes PEP asked a number of people to share their definition of the word.
Hearing the word made a few people laugh at first, like Seth, who responded by saying, “Longtime I haven’t heard that word. But I think that’s somebody who likes to give away money, I think, a sugar daddy or something like that. I could be wrong I am not sure.”
Another young man who prefers to be identified by his last name Wilson defined the word boopser as someone who gives money or expensive stuff to women.
Tony, who found the question somewhat amusing, said “I am a boopser! A big one too, a boopser is a man who like give woman things. I love woman so I gone give them everything, I am a ‘big’ boopser.”
Blues, on the other hand, reported that a boopser is a man who likes to give stuff to get stuff.
“A boopser is a guy who loves to spend his money on women…usually in exchange for her services of course; and it is usually older men who are boopsers” said T.C.
“Boopser? What’s that? Oh you mean a man who like give woman top up and money and so?” asked 30-year-old Jahmeilla while adding that “a boopser is not always a man; some women are boopsers to because there are some women out there who like to give man things because they like them or want them; whatever the case maybe.”
“From my understanding a boopser is anybody that freely gives monetary or materialistic items to the opposite sex, out of the deepest depths of their pockets without reasoning or sensibility” said a young man who is known as Glochester.
