BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The young man who attempted to rob Gillard’s Gas Station, has been identified as Leslie Farrell of Sprott Street and has officially been charged with the crime.
The 24-year-old, according to information earlier received from the Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime (ACP Crime), Joseph Liburd, entered the service station sometime after 9:00p.m. on September 2 with intention of committing a crime.
Liburd further explained that a struggle ensued between Farrell and another individual who was at the gas station and who attempted to restrain him. Members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force were summoned to the scene where Farrell was arrested and taken into police custody.
ACP Liburd indicated that an individual, during the incident, sustained an injury to his hand for which he was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, treated and discharged. The ACP, however, indicated that Farrell was charged only for the robbery.
SKNVibes understands that Farrell was formally charged on (Sept. 05) with the offence of “robbery” and is scheduled to make an appearance before the Magistrate Court sometime today where he is expected to make an application for bail.
There has been no indication whether the police will object to his application for bail, if one is made, but should one be made and the police is successful in mounting an objection, Farrell will be remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
Investigations into the incident are said to be ongoing.
