Police probe cruel act of criminality

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Sometime last week, allegations of a crime perpetrated against a man and a woman residing in the Federation was brought to the attention of this media house and raised questions as to whether or not the authorities were making the necessary inquiries into the jaw-dropping occurrence.

According to reliable information received by SKNVibes, on August 25, 2010, two individuals launched an attack on the man and woman, leaving the former with a wound to his head.

The information indicates that sometime during that evening, the man and the woman travelled to the Halfmoon Bay area, and while there two armed, masked individuals approached and struck the young man on his head with a hammer and  were proceeding to launch an assault on the young woman.

This media house understands that before the assault could be executed, a police vehicle which was being driven in the vicinity distracted the perpetrators from executing their dastardly deed and caused them to throw the female in the back seat of the vehicle and flee the scene.

SKNVibes was reliably informed that the young lady managed to evade harm by opening the door and jumping out of the vehicle while it was in motion.

Press and Public Relations Officer attached to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Zenhastel Hector confirmed to SKNVibes that the incident did occur and that investigations are currently being made by officers at the Frigate Bay Outpost.

The Inspector also confirmed the details of the incident except that which speaks to the male being struck on the head with a hammer. He said however, that according to information he received, the male did sustain injury to his head.

Hector informed that no one has been arrested in connection with the crime and appealed to the public to provide assistance to the police in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“We are still appealing to the public or anyone who has any information about that crime to call the Frigate Bay Police Station at 465-6899. Information can be given on condition of anonymity and it will be handled with the strictest of confidence,” Hector implored.
