Basseterre, St. Kitts – September 6, 2010 – The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority has embarked on a staff restructuring exercise as part of its strategy to improve efficiency and achieve financial sustainability.
This was officially communicated to staff today, Monday, September 6, 2010 at a general staff meeting held at the Ocean Terrace Inn. According to the Chief ExecutiveOfficer, Terrence Crossman, this necessary decision came after months of assessment of the organisation’s financial status.
Employees have been given the option to exit the Authority, taking with them an attractive financial package. Today’s meeting culminated a series of meetings with key stakeholders including the Department of Labour as well as the St.Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union which represents dockers and operators at SCASPA.
The restructuring of staff is only one of the measures being taken to achieve sustainability. Others include restructuring the debt portfolio, reducing discretionary spending, and increasing revenues.
