Basseterre, St. Kitts (June 15, 2006): The Stepping Stones Programme of the Social Development and Community Affairs Department is geared for the upcoming week to prepare sixth grade students to make a smooth transition into High School.
~~Adz:Right~~According to a ministry spokesperson primary school children need assistance as they make the shift from a very sheltered environment to one of greater independence, experiences, competitiveness and challenges.

During the week of June 19-23, while teachers are busy marking examination papers, representatives of the Youth, Social Development and Community Affairs Department as well as a wide cross-section of professionals from the wider community will conduct sessions with grade six students.

The topics planned for discussion include; responding to adolescent changes; gender roles and responsibilities; my role in community development; marketing the art of being me and looking at high school policies.

Students will be taken out of their usual school environments as sessions will be conducted at the Mc Knight and Cayon Community Centres.
