BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –THE National Carnival Committee has seen some changes with the addition of five new members to the team with the intention to bring about improvement in the festival.
According to a well placed source with close connections to the committee, who spoke to SKNVibes on condition of anonymity, Clement ‘Monarch’ O’Garro will replace Gus Williams as the new Chairperson with Shannon Hawley as his newly appointed Deputy.
The source also informed that the members will be officially introduced to the public when the committee is launched next week during a media event. However, although uncertain whether any new events will be added to the carnival calendar of activities the source said, the committee is hoping to reintroduce the Soca Monarch Competition and there is a strong possibility that a few 'private fests' may be included on the programme.
The source also disclose to this media house that two contestants have been already confirmed for the Miss St. Kitts National Carnival Queen Pageant but the committee is currently awaiting responses from six other contestants who have not yet returned registration forms.
The 2010 carnival celebrations will be officially launched on October 16 and will be declared officially opened two months later on December 17.
