Basseterre, St. Kitts - After some twelve (12) weeks of collaboration, fun, and top notch entertainment surrounding the TDC – Carib Brewery St. Kitts Karaoke Idol, it all came to an end on September 11th, 2010. The Finals which was held on August 26th, saw Curdell Mills taking home the US $1, 000 1st Prize. Angel “A” Bryant placed second, wining US $650, and Melissa Rawlins third, with US $350. On Saturday September 11th, the official Prize Giving Ceremony was held at the TDC Employee Centre on the Frigate Bay Road. It opened up with a Cocktail Party and then, amidst friends and supporters, all participants received several Gifts and Prizes. The Winners received their US Checks/Cheques and also took home Mobile phones from LIME, one of the Show’s Partners.
In a brief interview with Noah Mills, Managing Director for SEN Consulting, and the lead Coordinator for the Karaoke Idol Project, he explained that St. Kitts was a lot tougher than Nevis. Surprisingly, he noted that the crowds were smaller in St. Kitts than on Nevis. He also mentioned that some of the Platinum Sponsors from Nevis pulled out for the St. Kitts Leg, which made it financially more challenging. Further, in having the Idol Management Team sacrifice themselves to travel to St. Kitts on the afternoon of each Show and then, return to Nevis the following morning to fulfil their professional commitments there, the workload increased plentifold. As for Media Partnerships, Nevis also provided more.
Nonetheless, Mills praised the Venues in St. Kitts (Marriott Hotel and Casino, Fishermans Wharf, Frigate Bay Beach Hotel, and Fusion), all the Karaoke Idols, and each and every Audience Member, who supported the Shows. “Our astounding success can only be attributed to these entities,” he stated. He also commended the Judges (Troy Mills, Newish Nittal, and Tamika Williams) for giving of their time to provide objective and transparent adjudicating. Lastly, Mills poured tons of appreciation on TDC and Carib Brewery. “In tough economic times, both Companies have seen potential in the Project and have been unselfishly giving since February of this year, to ensure that aspiring Performers are giving a forum to showcase their skills while entertaining audiences at each Show,” Mills noted.
In ending Mills however added that the FUN and the HARD Work seems unending, as his Management Team is now focusing on rolling out the most Competitive and Enjoyable Singing and Performing Battle yet between Nevis and St. Kitts starting on Saturday September 18th, 2010.
