"A cheerful heart is good medicine..." (Prov. 17:22). This guiding Biblical principle has shaped my sunny disposition and over the years has positively impacted my interactions with family, friends and acquaintances. A people-lover by nature, teaching has always held tremendous appeal for me.
Indeed it is one of my passions and has influenced many of my personal choices and academic pursuits. In 2003, I began my teaching career at my alma mater the Cayon High School having completed the CAPE programme at the CFBC. In 2007, I gained an Associates Degree (UWI) in Teacher Education having honed my professional skills at the CFBC (Teacher Division). With my zest for life and learning I am confident of even further personal and professional development.
At present I teach Social Studies and also perform the duties of Year Head for 5th Form at the Basseterre High School. I am a proud, bona fide, card-carrying member of the St.Kitts Teachers' Union (SKTU) and I'm honoured to be one of the contestants in the first ever Miss SKTU.
In this pageant, I will be representing the discipline of Arts. And it is my belief that our students deserve and need the arts. Research is consistent in their findings as to the benefits of the arts. After being members of programs in the area of Arts, students who might not have otherwise been successful have flourished. Discipline problems tend to decrease and academic achievement has raised constantly as a result of rich arts programs."
Thus it is my duty to be an ambassador of the Arts and With God’s help and much Practice and hard work I intend to represent by discipline and my union well.
