Thieves strike again…this time hitting B’s Service Station

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts – BUSINESS places around the federation continue to feel the squeeze as thieves  appear to be  on the prowl breaking into a number of properties.  The Service Station located at Brimstone Hill Road on the outskirts of Sandy Point has been the latest establishment to have been affected by such criminal activity.

SKNVibes contacted the police but was unable to receive any information about the incident however; this media house contacted Lionel Benjamin owner B’S Enterprises of which the service station is a subsidiary. Benjamin confirmed that the premises were indeed broken into sometime between 12 and 3:00a.m this morning.

Benjamin said the thieves made their way in the building by cutting the locks on the western door after which they broke the inner locks on the gate and entered the store room. They then broke another set of locks and entered the main entrance unto the main floor.

“They stole car batteries, car tints, two brand new Mongoose bicycles, groceries and batteries among other stuff and an undisclosed amount of cash.”

He went on to add that who ever broke into the building had a small pick-up truck or small jeep. Benjamin said there was evidence which suggested that the perpetrators had made some attempt to erase the imprints which the tyres on the vehicle would have left.

Benjamin stated that the police visited the scene and recorded statements and will be carrying out investigations into the matter.  This has been the second such incident since the service station was first broken into in 1994 but Benjamin said that two armed gun men held up the  in February, 2009.
