Minister Marcella Liburd’s stolen vehicle recovered

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual(s) who executed an act of building breaking and car theft sometime last evening.

     

    SKNVibes understands that sometime between 8:00 on the evening of Thursday, September 23, and the following morning, the compound which houses Huggins Auto and Rental Services, was broken into and a Grand Cherokee, the property of Minister of Health and Gender Affairs, Marcella Liburd, was stolen therefrom.

     

    Public Relations Officer attached to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Vaughan Henderson explained to SKNVibes that at approximately 7:40 on that Thursday evening, the proprietors secured the premises and when they arrived for work the following morning, they discovered that the chain which secured the gate to the entrance was cut and removed and the metal office door on the southern side of the building was open.

     

    He also explained that the office was ransacked and the key to Minister Liburd’s vehicle, which was on the compound for servicing, was missing. A further search revealed that the vehicle, which is black and red in colour and which carried the registration number P3912, was stolen.

     

    Police officers, the Inspector informed, immediately went in search of the vehicle and at about 9:30 a.m. (Sept 24), managed to locate the vehicle at Ponds Estate in the vicinity of “Sturge’s Garage” with “no visible damage to the exterior of the vehicle”. The vehicle was taken into police custody and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

     

    Inspector Henderson said there are currently no suspects in custody but an appeal has been made to members of the public to provide the authorities with any information they may have concerning the incident. 

     

    As is the custom, persons giving information can do so on condition of anonymity and all are reminded that information received will be held in the strictest of confidence.  Persons with information are asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 465-2241 ext 230.
