BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ON October 30 Carnival Village will be transformed into a friendly battleground as representatives from seven High Schools in St. Kitts will be competing in a song and dance competition dubbed Clash of the High Schools Song and Dance Competition.
Basseterre High School, The Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Saddlers Secondary School, Verchilds High School, Cayon High School and the Charles E Mills Secondary School will all go up against last year’s winner, Washington Archibald High School, for a cash prize of EC$1 500 along with a trophy and other prizes and bragging rights for one year.
The event is in its second staging and is an Island Soul Entertainment production (ISE). According to Cheddi Bradshaw of ISE, all the schools have started production and “this years’ competition is looking really tight”.
Promotion for the event officially began yesterday (Oct. 5) and there is a Mascot in the form of an orange monkey named Bubbles, which will be visiting each high school on separate dates to add some more spice and colour to the event leading up to the competition’s date.
